Ezeriah smiled at him, swimming over towards him. So now, she was floating on her back on one side of him. She looked at the sky, the stars looking like little lightbulbs in the dark. She murmured something about them, too quiet to hear. When he spoke again, Ezzie couldn't help but smile at his old wish, "A dolphin? My mom used to adore dolphins." She remembered all the small porcelain dolphins that lined her mother's cabinets. Now, they were all gone. Nothing had been placed there yet.
When the first star went by, Ezzie couldn't help but gasp. She'd only seen a comet once before in her life. The first one she wished her dad would stop. And the second one she wished she would get... better. She smiled again when one of them flew through the sky, faster than the first, "Amazing." She whispered thoughtfully. And she nodded in agreement with Chri's prediction. A meteor shower... something she'd never seen in her life.

definitelymaybe_______ It was good she could think about her mother without becoming sad. It actually seemed to make her happy. His lips parted into an easy grin as he looked up at the falling stars. It was quite spectacular, something he rarely witnessed. When he was small, he went through a phase where he was obsessed with the universe. His mom bought him a telescope and built a balcony off of his room so he could just lay out there and look at the stars. His room was on the back side of the house, so as long as he turned off all of the lights, the sky was clear.
"They say if you wish upon a falling star, it'll come true," he said allowed, urging her to wish if she hadn't already. He had made three, and that was his limit. He didn't want to overdo it. "What are you afraid of?" he asked, completely randomly. There wasn't really any motive behind his question, other than just wanting to get to know Ezeriah.

Ezeriah had always loved stars but never had they seemed better than now. She had always said--when she was younger--that one of the brightest shining stars was her mother. And that she was always watching Ez, even though she was gone. Ezeriah also used to believe that her mother was protecting her but after the first time Charley hit her, that was lost from her thoughts. But the stars looked amazing and maybe her mother was watching her from the sky. Maybe all her family was there--her deceased family, at least.
Ezeriah turned her head just enough so she wouldn't get water in her mouth. She opened her mouth to tell him her fears and then closed it, still thinking about them. She had quite a few fears but only three major fears, really, "I'm afraid of being... well, being fat. Also of being in total darkness. Like, with no one around me, too." Then she paused again, hurt flarring up in her eyes, "And I'm scared of my dad." The last one she whispered softly, fear still blazing in her dark eyes.

definitelymaybe_______ Fear one was an understatement. He, himself was afraid of becoming fat, but she had taken... well, proactive measures to make sure it never happened. Fear two was a common fear. And fear three... Well, let's just say it pissed him off. Luckily, Chris used his anger management skills to tone down his reaction to this. He flipped over, letting his tiptoes find the sandy bottom of the river. The water only came up to his neck here if he did this. Small waves threatened to tip him over.
He made no comment, just looked at her long and hard. Then it was his turn. She didn't ask, but if she was going to share stuff about herself, he'd do the same. "I'm afraid of being alone.. Not physically, but, like, emotionally. Like. I really don't know what I'm going to do when my mom passes.. and I'm afraid of having my head under water.. Kind of just not being able to breathe. And I'm afraid of failure," he smirked at the last one. It was true. It was partially the reason he got such good grades, to insure he would be the best.

Ezeriah let herself drift back into the water, her toes not even touching the ground. She went under water, hoping to wash away the deep fear in her eyes. Her father couldn't be any scarier when he was mad--or when he was stressed. She shuddered under water, soon resurfacing. The fear had ebbed away a little but she was still scared of going back to him. Or if she did. Well, she would have to, so she could snatch her sister away.
She nodded, understanding his fears, and mostly the first one. She didn't know exactly what to say so she just stayed silent, still watching him carefully, though. She nodded again, "I'm also somewhat afraid of not being accepted. Like, just accepted for being who I am." She made small circles in the water with her finger, still watching Chris, "Anyways," She changed the subject, "What do you like?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Ezzie didn't like talking about fears or things she didn't like--it usually made her feel sad if she talked about them.

definitelymaybe_______ He nodded when she told him about the whole 'being accepted' thing. He knew that feeling well, even though most people accepted him as the cute, smart guy who they would never date. He tended to remind girls of a brotherly figure, and nothing more. He'd grown accustomed to it long ago, so it rarely bothered him anymore. There were times it frustrated him, because, hey, he was a senior and the only relationship he had had thus far had lasted all of ten days. She moved on to something new and improved.
"That's a very general question, miss," he looked at her, arms floating in the water. His face scrunched in thought, and he slowly began to answer her. "Welll, I like school, for one. It's the challenge. I like challenges. And I like music.. singing, writing lyrics," he paused, still thinking. The question could take an hour to answer if he told her everything he liked. He could be mister smooth, and answer the question by saying 'you', and it wouldn't even be a lie. Of course, he didn't say that. Fear of rejection pulled him away. "And I like to play soccer," he finished with that one. Soccer was his favorite sport. He'd covered school, music, and sports. It was only a fraction of everything that made Chris, Chris.

Ezeriah almost never seem accepted. She was too quiet to be with a lot of people and many people didn't like her for that. Not to mention that a lot of people thought she was a freak for being so thin, even if they didn't know she had a disorder--which she never admitted to anyone of course. But many people simply didn't like her of because she was so quiet and usually rude. And not to mention that she didn't like people who thought they were mucho cool.
Ezzie's attention snapped back to Chris once he began talking. She raised an eyebrow when he said school. Ezeriah loved literature and such but other things like math and science merely frustrated her. And any time she had to dissect something, she almost always fainted. Music also interested Ezeriah. She loved it and she could never stop listening to it.
When he stopped, Ezeriah began thinking, "I like literature--english, grammar, reading, writing." She puased again, "Oh, and music. Usually the music that everyone calls the 'dark and depressing' type. Oh, and I like hanging out with my sister." Ezeriah blinked, noticing she liked a lot more things, "Geez, it'll take too long." She thought of more he said and brought up sports, "Though I don't play sports," She shrugged, "volleyball always looked like an option if I did."

He smiled at the girl. He had a cute smile; straight teeth, slight dimples. Genuine, sweet. A smile that was supposed to make people glad to be wherever they are, with whoever they're there with. "Dark, depressing music, eh?" he raised one brow in question. "I'll have to listen to this music some day," he looked up at the sky, the meteors still burning in the atmosphere.
"Hey..." he paused, still looking up. Hey, it was a long shot. He barely knew the girl. Didn't matter that he wanted to know EVERYTHING about her... But, still. "Umm," he stopped again, a wet hand raising from the water to run through his wet hair. He was nervous. Shyness played a part in his personality when it came to girls. Rejection stung. It was one reason he didn't go on many dates. "Do you wanna go do something later in the week," the words were rushed, and he never quite met her eyes. Now he was studying the reflection of the moon on the water.. "..not like a date, or anything," he paused. Yeah, not like a date. Who was he kidding? He'd love to go on a date with such a down-to-earth girl. One that cared more about someone else than herself. They weren't dime a dozen in this town.

Ezeriah couldn't help but smile back at him, her colored hair covering much of her face. Sighing, she moved it away. She snorted at his next comment, shrugging, "Well, at least a lot of people call it that. I don't think it's dark at all." She shrugged again, "It's simply my kind of music." She rolled her eyes.
Ezeriah went under water momentarily. And, as she came back up, she heard Chris' question. She tried to keep a straight face, and also trying not to make the answer extremely obvious. She pretended to think, though she already knew the answer. She noticed how nervous he looked, it was easy to tell. And, of course, there was no way she could say no! The girl liked Chris a lot. He was friendly, a good listener, and someone that wasn't totally self-obsessed. And, she liked it.
She smiled again, her eyes lighting up happily, "Of course I'd like to do something this week, Chris. It's not like I have anything else planned... at all." She shrugged. Ezzie would've liked it if he classified it as a date but really, that was fine with her. She liked him either way.

His face transformed into a mask of happiness. So. She wanted to 'do something', as he had so smoothely put it. Well, then. He'd treat it as a date, anyway. Maybe more of a 'friend' type date. Maybe they'd go to the store, buy all of her stuff to help her with her disorder, and then they could drop it off at the dorms and go to a movie after.
So the movies were a bit cliche, but classic nonetheless. It took the whole 'conversation' bit out of the picture... And since neither of the pair were extremely talkative, that helped. And he could figure out more about her. Like.. Her favorite movie.. And her habits in the theatre. And afterwards... Okay, so he was getting carried away with his thoughts.
"Ezzzie. You make me happyyy," he said in a slightly singsong manner. He was still smiling. "Anything in particular you'd like to do? I mean, since you're all free all the time and stuff... There must be something you wanna do," his head tilted.

Ezeriah watched him as he thought, her lips curled into a delicate smile and her eyes bright as could be. She didn't know what she wanted to do. And would really do anything that seemed interesting. Anything worked for the girl. Ezzie couldn't help but grin when Chris' face totally lit up. He looked so, like, extremely happy about it.
She couldn't hide the snort when Chris said she made him happy. Ezzie smiled, rolling her eyes, "Yeah, 'cause we all know I'm that kind of person." She said jokingly, rolling her eyes once again. And, at his next question, Ezeriah shrugged. Truthfully, she never really did anything. Usually just sat in her room reading, writing, or listening to music. She never went out with people and rarely talked to them.
"What do you have in mind?" Ezeriah asked, her arms moving slowly to keep her afloat, "I don't do anything all day so I have no idea what to do."

Ezeriah nodded slowly, the idea processing slowly in her brain. Suddenly, she let out a yawn, running her hand over wet face. And, yet again, she nodded. Ezeriah wanted to go in, it was starting to get dark and she was getting tired, "Yeah, let's go in." She let out another yawn and then squeaked, covering her mouth, "I'm soo tired." She muttered, stifling another one.
Ezeriah swam slowly to the shore, getting ready to head back towards her dorm and such. She shivered when she stepped out, the small breeze hitting her. The girl grabbed her clothes, quickly slipping her shirt over her wet bathing suit and her pants over her bottoms. Large, wet stains were appearing underneath her clothes, making Ezeriah roll her eyes.
